Plowman Craven are delighted to announce
that the company has signed a contract which appoints us as the
exclusive supplier of geomatic and laser scanning services for the
High Performance Division of UK Sport for the period up to the end
of the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008. UK Sport Innovation is focussed
on the nation being the best-equipped team in Beijing and, of course,
to retain that position leading up to London 2012. It has entered
into partnerships in areas such as aerodynamics, where it is working
closely with the UK Formula 1 industry, and in all areas of equipment
technology. We aim to ensure that we help Team GB arrive in China
with, not only the fittest squad in Beijing, but also the best equipment.

One of the first areas in which
Plowman Craven 3D have concentrated our considerable measurement
expertise has been the fluid dynamics of white-water competition
kayaks. We used our close range laser scanning system to create
CAD profiles of the canoes of Campbell Walsh, Olympic Silver
Medallist and World Cup Champion, to allow experts to isolate
the structural features that make one particular canoe behave
better than another in the heat of competition. Campbell, also
recently voted the 20th most eligible Scotsman, can be confident
that we have recorded every surface nuance of each of his boats
accurately. We fully support Campbell’s quest for Olympic
Gold in 2008 and will continue to strive to give a technological
advantage to him and all the other UK athletes in the future. |
“Lottery funding distributed
through UK Sport's World Class Performance Program allows me to
train full-time. The program provides me with the best coaching,
sports science, physiotherapy, technological and sports medicine
support. Training to compete with the world’s best would be
impossible without continued support.” Campbell
Walsh Athlete “The skills of Plowman
Craven to produce accurate facsimiles of complex shapes during the
design and evaluation process is crucial in our ongoing challenge
of getting and staying ahead of the other major sporting nations
in the areas of technology and innovation.” Dr
